Day 15 - Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Library

Today we spent the day in Springfield, Illinois.
This is the Old State House...

Next we visited the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum... the only photos allowed were here in the lobby with President Lincoln and his family in front of the White House..

and here in front of young Abe's log home.
The museum was fantastic! It is one the best museums we have ever seen... one of the theaters presented a holographic presentation depicting Ghosts Of The Library, which just blew us away... we had to watch it twice it was so good!
If you get a chance, this place is a must see!

After the museum, we visted the Presidential Library and Research Center. Debra discovered that this library contains all of the records and resources that used to be contained in the Illinois Historical Library... so guess where she spent the rest of the day ( the curator had to kick her out at closing) and guess where we will be tomorrow morning... they have copies of all the old Illinois newspapers!

On the walk back to the car, we passed the Lincoln and Herndon law offices... there were some significant events in LDS church history that took place here... look it up or ask Jayson.

The State House across the street from the hotel.

After dinner, I took Deb to the Lincoln Homestead site.

She took a stroll down the boardwalk in the Lincoln Homestead National Park...

Towards a famous street...

It was incredibly hot today... 97 degrees with humidity that put the heat index at 111 degrees! They are saying it is going to be just as hot tomorrow... oh joy! Tonight, we are on a tornado and T-Storm watch!

There is no need to use my name in vane. I am not the one in charge of the weather! I lived with it for 18 months buddy. Just think of it as constantly showering.
