Day 45: A "Marginal Walk" in Ogunquit and Lobster in Maine

Greetings again from Sturbridge, MA...

Today we decided to take a day trip up north to Maine... We had to drive in rain for the first time since we left Utah weeks ago...

In order to get there, we had to drive through the State of New Hampshire... I think that took about 10 minutes...

We got off of the Pike and got on the Old Highway...

Soon we were in Kittery...

Maine...

We chose Highway 1 because it is a beautiful two lane scenic route up the Atlantic Coast... and just my luck... I get stuck behind Hillary on the way to her New England hideway...

Soon we reached Ogunquit, ME where we took a walk on the famous "Marginal Way"...

The trail skirts the cliffs of the Atlantic Coast in this area...

This is a huge 604 lb squash that was sitting in a garden along the trail... It actually was honored as the biggest in Maine this year!

Just in case the Redcoats forget who is in charge here...

She is doing it again...

She sure is cute...

She has found MORE rocks...

And after 51 years, I finally get to touch the Atlantic Ocean... Oct 11th, 2007 at 3:27 p.m. EDT...

with both feet...

and you didn't think I could move!

Beach Art...

You thought I was kidding... she brought at least 20 more pounds of rocks for ballast in the Mini...

Then it was on to...

our turning around point...

In our Portland to Portland journey...

Where we ate Lobster and Clam Chowder... of course!
Tomorrow, we are going to make our way back to Ephrata, Pennsylvania to do some more research in the historical library... then it is on to Kentucky before heading west again.

yOU ARE MOVING RIGHT ALONG. DID THE ATLANTIC FEEL ANY DIFFERENT THAN THE PACIFIC? I FOUND IT TO BE WARMER.
WHEN YOU GET BACK TO EPHRATA BE SUE AND TAKE IN THAT STATE MUSEUM I HAVE BEEN TELLING YOU ABOUT. IT IS NOT FAR FROM EPHRATA. IT DOESN'T TAKE LONG TO TOUR IT BUT THERE IS A LOT OF HISTORY THERE, GOING CLEAR BACK TO THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR. tHOSE ROCKS ARE GOING TO COST YOU HOW MUCH IN GAS. ABOUT THE SAME ALL THE GLASS THAT DOROTHY BROUGHT BACK WHEN WE WERE THERE. SHE HAD HAD THAT OLD WINNEBAGO LOADED DOWN. I DIDN'T REALIZE HOW MUCH TILL I GOT BACK WEST AND STARTED NEGOTIATING MOUNTAINS. SOME OF THOSE GLASS PLANTS HAVE SINCE CLOSED DOWN, I THINK IT WAS IN WEST VIRGINIA. THINGS ARE GOING WELL HERE. KEEP THOSE BLOGS A COMING. WE ENJOY THEM. AND YOU ARE RIGHT, SON, SHE IS CUTE!
LOVE YA.
