Day 04 - Dinosaurs lived here...

Friday, 26 August

Today we left Springville and headed east up Provo Canyon.  We have decided to stay off of freeways and stick to highways and county roads (we disabled highways in the GPS).  We have one week to work our way back to Tennessee and are "throwing the dice" on our route, never knowing where we will be going until the GPS routes our waypoints.  This is a very fun way to travel and our favorite.

One the way up the canyon we stopped at Bridal Veil Falls to take some photos... this is always a tricky shot at this time of day because much of the falls is in shade... I took the HDR route...

Deb's is just a single exposure... she has a keen eye for composition!

On the way through Heber, UT, we drove up to the top of the prominant landmark hill that overlooks the valley...

At the top of the hill there is a memorial commemorating all members of the valley that have served in any war or conflict that the US has been involved in...

This tribute is called "Final Salute".
At the bottom of the hill, Deb spotted these goats "getting into their meal".
On the way out of Utah, we traveled through Vernal, Utah's Dinosaur Land.  We did not stop at the National Monument because we were there last roadtrip and we wanted to get down the road as far as we could before stopping fot the night.
We entered Colorado and started towards the Rockies...
Deb took this photo for Mae...
Our destination tonight is Craig, Colorado.
We are looking forward to the beautiful country we will be passing through tomorrow!
