Day 06 - Why is corn so expensive?????

Sunday, 29 August

Today we covered a lot of very flat land...  We drove through Haxton, Paoli, and Holyoke, Colorado before entering Nebraska at 1225.

We are no longer in antelope country...

There was a slight hill along the way...  We drove through Imperial, Enders, Waneta, Palisade, and Culbertson...

Out of Nebraska (nothing but corn) at 1530, into Kansas (nothing but corn...

and soybeans)...

Apparently, we are very near the center...

We drove through Overlin, Norton, Philipsburg, Montrose, and Scandia...

Before reaching our destination of Belleville, Kansas for our stay tonight.  We got here about 1830, which gave us some valuable time to catch up on our blogging and get a good meal of Traeger smoked meat!  The chef was a very friendly guy who took me back into the kitchen to show me his double burner Traeger... I told him we live only a few miles from the factory!

We found this "quaint" little house a few block from our motel...  It feels like we are back in the south...  (we are pleased to discover that the plains folk are just as friendly!)

Finally, I had to put this photo up of the carnage we caused to the Kansas state bird today!

Tomorrow, we will try to make it across Missouri.
